An Evening with

Sean Marshall

Born and raised outside New York City, singer-songwriter Sean Marshall has since resided at the Jersey Shore, the Midwest, and now the Mountain West. His experience across diverse landscapes and audiences seeps through his songs with an eclectic vision of America and its people.  3 full-length studio albums display this sonic range, with sounds rooted in classic folk structures, colored by indie rock textures, and laced with country ambiance.

An Evening with Sean Marshall draws from the full the scope of Sean's musical experience: his solo start playing the bars of NYC; years in Asbury Park NJ as a member of award-winning folk trio, Lightning Jar; his Ohio-based alt-country outfit The Near Miss; and now, as a new father juggling his time equally between living-room renditions of “Wheels on the Bus” and performances throughout the Mountain West. This evening-length performance offers an intimate visit with the full breadth of an artist who has come a long way, and with that, has many stories to tell.

Accompanying Sean for tonight’s musical journey are Andrew Michael Pincock on bass and Taku Ishikawa on drums, with special guests throughout. All of this makes for a memorable evening of stories and songs you won’t want to miss.

Sterling Drake

Steeped in the traditions of roots music, the journey of songwriter Sterling Drake has taken him from the Big Cypress of south Florida to the mountains of western Montana and everywhere in between.

With a penchant for honest storytelling, Sterling weaves his own perspective into the American songbook, often highlighting a strong sense of place through both natural imagery and cultural context. With influences
ranging from Willie Nelson to Lead Belly, the wells of inspiration for this young artist are as diverse as American music itself.

This year Sterling received the Ameripolitan Award for ‘Male Honky Tonk Artist 2024’ in Austin, TX. Spurred on by a passion for the cowboy lifestyle. In 2024 Sterling is teaming up with nonprofit land conservation and
mental health advocacy groups to help address issues impacting the ranching community.

Steve Poltz

Poltz has quietly emerged as the kind of live phenomenon celebrated passionately by a diehard fanbase worldwide and renowned as a festival favorite everywhere from Bluesfest in Byron Bay and High Sierra Music Festival in California and Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado to Cayamo Cruise (where he actually got married). It’s why his music has crept into pop culture via collaborations with everyone from Jewel and Billy Strings to Molly Tuttle, Sierra Hull, Nicki Bluhm, Oliver Wood, and even the late Mojo Nixon. It’s why after over a dozen albums, he’s still creatively firing on all cylinders and critically acclaimed by the likes of Rolling Stone, Associated Press, Billboard, and many more.

He kicked off his musical journey in San Diego-bred underground favorites The Rugburns. However, the world got to know Steve when co-wrote two tracks from Jewel’s diamond-certified debut Pieces Of You, including the multi platinum Billboard Hot 100 #2 “You Were Meant For Me” (he’s also in the video). He delivered his own full-length debut One Left Shoe in 1998 and paved the way for an extensive solo catalog defined by what he calls “evocative lyrics mixed with positivity and traces of tragicomedy.

Steve is probably gearing up for the greatest show of his life at The Bighorn.

Caleb Caudle

Caudle continues to mine both the brightest and murkiest corners of his imagination, finding that purest of points where tenderness and grit collide, inspired by musical heroes like Buddy Miller and Guy Clark, and mentors like Elizabeth Cook and John Paul White. It was White who Caudle tapped to produce Sweet Critters, along with Ben Tanner, at the duo’s Florence, Alabama studio Sun Drop Sound. "I was very excited to work with Caleb on this record. Iʼve been a fan for years and count him as a friend,” White says of working with Caudle. “Heʼs a stellar songwriter, so I knew heʼd bring the goods. And he did.” The album features Allison Russell, Aoife OʼDonovan, John Paul White, and Caudleʼs own touring band.

These songs are a showcase of Caudle’s singular command of language. He sees the world through a hyperreal lens wholly unique to him, one that renders dank humidity “horsefly heat,” a moody sky “cast iron skillet” dark, or a loved one’s “wind chime of a smile.” For Caudle, details are the last frontier in a world where thousands of new songs are created every day. As such, he weaves his intricate tales of redemption, sacrifice, forgiveness, and loss with the colorful threads of living, breathing characters and all the rich idiosyncrasies and ephemera that fill out their worlds.

Caudle and his band have played Stagecoach, Cayamo, Luck Reunion, Mountain Stage, Merlefest, Americanafest, The Long Road (UK), AMAUK (UK), and recently supported Marty Stuart, Steve Earle, Hayes Carll, Elizabeth Cook, Brent Cobb, Charles Wesley Godwin, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and many more.
